Might be still settling in. Will eventually eat. What was it eating at the lfs? Try night feeding?

What are the tankmates? Sometimes a busy tank with other fish will make 'en nervous and not want to eat in the beginning. I've seen them take a week to start eating and get used to the tank. Try earthworms and tilapia. May need to target feed as well. But I think just be patient and wait.

I have a tiger s/nose catfish,2x datnoides,2xearth eater chiclids(not sure if its the wright name),3xpolyputres(bicher),2xupside down catfish, silverish like gar,mono,2 x basic gerumies,black/orange shark like fish and a crown loach (mind my spelling)

You have a lot bottom competition in your tank, it will need time to establish to new environment, If you have a cave for it to hide in then it will adapt sooner.

I have a cave,he also burries himself in the gravel

An eel-friendly hiding spot should help. If need be, drop some food in the eel's cave where it's more likely to get it and not be out competed by the more confident tank mates.

However, settling in is certainly a likely culprit as well.
