If I get a baby Megalodoras Uranoscopus (prev. Irwini) and feed lightly, can anyone guess how long it might be before I need to upgrade? I understand they are fairly light on the bioload. The only other tankmate would be my Oscar.

If not the Uranoscopus, are any other giant Doras not so giant? I'd like something about a foot long.

i've never herd of a Megalodoras Uranoscopus... whts its common name?

Well, I've heard them called snail-eating doradids, croaking doradids, giant ripsaw doradids, and others. They used to be calles Megalodoras Irwini, but that was changed to the much prettier name uranoscopus a while ago. For some reason, our hobby is just barely catching up with the name change. Anyway, I've determined that I don't want one just yet. Once I have 200g+, I'll get one for sure, but now I'm looking into other medium-sized doradids (around 12" +/-) that can live in a 125g indefinitely. Do you know any?

Hey, If you are talking about the Irwini catfish.. you shall be fine. Their slow growers but will get big. My Irwini is currently about 5''. Got him about 1'' in Dec. of last year and hes now 5''.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN

you could have a megladorus they have really slow growth i had my 5 inch for about 7 months only grew 1 inch

i say go for it

Oh, wow. Slow grower really means slow grower in this case! Thanks.

Hey, I've got a platydoras armulatus in my 55g who is about six inches long. Do you think it could live with my Oscar?
