My crayfish has alot of babies they just hatched a few days ago. i heard that you should seperate them before the young eat each other. My question is when should i speperate them from the mom? right when they hatch or 2 weeks from they hatch..? help!? thanks

not much experiance with this, but once I saw a australian freshwater cray fish in a LFS and it was in a tank with all its babies, so I would think that it wouldnt eat itsbabies. good luck

It shouldn't eat it's babies unless if you don't feed it adequately for a while. However, after they grow larger they have a high chance of fighting.

you should grow them up and eat the babys your self there just like lobster but better:naughty:

Most crays will eat their babies. A crayfishes favorite food is another crayfish ;)

If you want to keep some of your babies you should remove them ASAP after they are off the tail. They are mini adults so will eat anything that your adult cray eats and you can keep them in just about anything that holds water as long as you keep up with the water changes. Also when your babies start to grow you will need to provide them with hides (straw pyramids are good) or the larger babies will snack on the smaller siblings.

Wht kind of cray is it?
