his food during a water change, apparently just leave it.

I hadn't gotten to it yet and my marbled pim re-ate it. :screwy:

Saw him spitting sand everywhere and the half digested pieces of shrimp were gone.

Ew.

Like a dog returning to its vomit... Gotta like it when they clean up their own mess. However, a big enough fish may spoil the water with stomach acids - make it acidic. A large WC is still usually recommended... but beware of a chain reaction WC-throw-up-eat-up-WC-throw-up-eat-up... :)

Yeah.

I usually fast them for a day before I do a big water change to prevent it.

But I got up this morning and my dat was laying on the bottom pale and I thought he was dead and freaked out. Turned out he was just sleeping. I knocked on the glass and he woke up and starting swimming about and coloring up.
But I was still paranoid so I decided to do a water change.

What is it with 'cat' - like animals and vomiting? Luckily, my catfish doesn't seem to have done this yet. But my furry cats apparently enjoy greeting me in the morning with a soggy pile of upchuck.
