Hi, im getting my first monster fish pond soon, it will be 660 gallon outside, heated and insulated, im planning a roof on top as stop rain from getting in, ill make a big diy trash can filter but with a uv lamp, and it doesnt snow where we live but that aside, where we live our water is very hard 7.8-8.2 pH an i want to get an arowana, i heard it could work if you acclimate them correctly, ok so im gonna divide this all into steps so that its easier to follow,

Step 1 the setup:
im gonna set up my old 30 gallon on the floor in my room with a airstone, heater and lid, inside as hiding places there will be horn wort and some pvc pipes, i will get water from my local store, i know you will probably say that overkill because my local store likely also has hard water, but it doesnt, my local store is a 120 km 1-2 hour drive away, and in my region is very hard alkaline well water

Step 2 the acclimation:
i will get home with the arowana and temperature acclimate it for 20 minutes, i usually get home from the city at about 5-6 pm and then i will leave it alone until the next day, then i will setup a cooler box full of the ponds water next to the tank and slowly start dripping the water from my pond into the tank, until the tank is about 60-80% pond water, then the next day i’ll remove like 50% of the water and get pond water and drip it back in, and then a little later i’ll test my tank water and pond water and if its close enough i’ll just make sure the temperature is the same and release the arowana into the basket thingy

Step 3 the basket: the basket will be a laundry basket with large holes and mosquito net covering those holes attached to pool noodle to float, i’ll show a picture

like that, but there will be hornwort inside and pvc pipes to make it feel familiar for the fish, then while in the pond the arowana is in the basket he’ll be observed and fed, for a while like a month or two this is to safeguard the arowana from my other larger monster fish if i have any by that point or anyways you don’t want a little 5 inch arowana in a whole 660 gallon pond, it would be impossible to find

What specie of Arowana?
That floating basket will need to be covered for two reasons. 1.
Arowana are natural jumpers.
2.a bird may easily pick off the Arowana.
If you plan on getting a Silver Arowana they grow very fast from my experience. Don't need the pvc pipes young Arowana mainly swim at the middle and surface.

so im planning on getting a silver, the pvc is needed because im also getting a pleco, i just think they’re cool so im growing one out,
so anyways im planning on having a net on the whole pond and the basket would be covered by that net
