Alright, I was under the impression that a texas cichlid was a fairly aggressive cichlid, and as such could be placed with other aggressive cichlid i.e. Jack dempseys, Jags, and so on. But mine seems to be a bit of a little girl, and has already had his tail bit pretty good. So is the info I'm getting wrong, or is mine just a bit wussy???

As with most species of New World cichlids, it is not the species that dictates the level of aggression. Each individual fish is different.

it depends on the your spedcific fish but htey are not very aggresive in general. they should be alright with the JD but the jag could be to big and aggresive. however it should still be able to hold tis own in that tank

right now the jag isn't the problem, he pretty much stays to his self, same with the other fish in the tank, but the JD is just absolutely hates him for some reason, they're all juveniles at the moment, but I think that the texas may be a little timid because at the lfs they stuck 4-5 texas's with about 10 RD and some other misc. fish in what couldn't have been bigger than a 20-30 gallon

my texas would hammer my male festae who was half inch bigger all day until i found the festae dead after a night away

how big was it when it was aggressive like that, cuz i just read they can be pretty timid until 4-6 inches

I have 4 carpintis growing out with a GT right now and 1 of the carpintis is a beast and takes it to the GT from time to time and the other is a wuss and lets the GT mow it over. The other 2 carpintis can handle their own but tend to stay out of the way for the most part, seeming to know their place.

Sounds like you have a wuss or a fish that hasn't found his place yet. A has been said, each fish is different just as each human is different. No fish will be the same.

The green texas I adopted a couple months ago is very aggressive. I've tried him in a couple tanks with my GT, oscars, my brothers red devil, and he fights. My GT and te RD are also real aggressive, though. Everyone stays in their own tank alone for good.

how big is your tank son?
