So mad I can barely type! Got fish today!

I orded 6 S.E.A, a dwarf freshwater puffer, and a flounder from **************** Sunday. Well, today they got here, all FROZEN DEAD in their bags, except for the flounder, whose bag was stuck to the heat pack(!?) :confused: .

The puffer was single baged, and heat pack was not taped to the top of the box(if you shipped fish in cold weather before, you know what I mean, cutting the hole, taping the heat pack, blah,blah,blah) so it was bouncing around in the WAY too big shipping box, along with the UNSECURED fish bags! :WHOA:

When I ship fish I pack paper towels, foam peanuts, newspaper, WHATEVER around the bags to keep them SECURELY in place!

Anyways, I emailed this place, told them the problem, asked for new fish shipped, followed the DOA instructions on their website, and waited for the return authorizaton number to be sent to me.

They want me to pay another $24.75 shipping fee to ship the replacements :swear: !

I told them just refund my money into paypal.

I just paid $29.25 for a 1 inch flounder :cry: ! And I'm not about to pay a total of $79.50 for a dwarf puffer and 6 SAE's (cost of fish plus shipping X 2)!

NEVER, with all the fish I've ordered or won online have been told I would need to pay to re-ship DOA! WTF is up with that! They pack like crap and they want me to pay! :swear: If I ship fish and they are DOA I sure as hell don't tell my buyer to pay me MORE shipping charges for the replacements! It's part of the cost of selling fish online!
 
that sucks and you have my sympathy. I will have to say though, I love dealing with them. I ordered 3 datnoids from them and they arrived very healthy. I'm up here in Boston too. I was very impressed with their speed as well. I'm sorry that you had such a piss poor experience. I can't believe they'd charge you. did you plead your case? I'm sure you did, it just seems to me like they would be the kind of people to take care of their customers.

Six years ago (right before I got married) I ordered like $150 worth of fish, crabs, and snails from them and all came in great, super healthy. That's why I deceided to go with them for this order.

Those fish six years ago were packed nothing like the box I got today.

I'm just really mad that they expect me to pay shipping again. If those fish were packed right they wouldn't be dead! All I got was a "Sorry, we HAVE to charge to re-ship." I don't think I will do business with them again.

My LFS will not order fish for me. They don't carry SAE, flounders, puffers, or much else for that matter. What fish they do have SUCK, I try not to buy fish from my LFS.

90% of the fish (and other critters in my tanks) I keep now or kept in the past have come from mail order or the web. This is only the second time EVER I've received DOA. The last company (LiveAquariua.com) re-shipped at no charge.
 
I received DOA once online and I won't order from that gentleman again and would advise everybody not to order from the person I dealt with. FJR :)


Never ordered from **************** however, but it really sucks to hear the way they're treating you. :(
 
I have a really awesome LFS thank god, and I am an IBC member so I have a bunch of good web sources, and fellow breeders. Not to mention you can snag some good stock from aquabid.com
 
That sux that your fish didnt arrive alive. I went through this before, I ordered a fish online and it came DOA cause the people who packaged it thought a fish in a container with holes and 1 inch of water would be fine...Luckily I got my money back.

Yes, I've loved everything I've got from Aquabid.com! The sellers ROCK, never had a doa from Aquabid!
