so my dad got a purple rose queen!

ok so I scooped up my Dempsey, mayan cichlid,convict and geophagus. I got 60$ in storecredit. my dad ended up getting a 5 inch rose queen. he really really liked it so that's what he got. the Dempsey was his so he made the conscious decision to let it go. the mayan was my bro's and he didn't like the personality of it, he said it was boring. so now I have my 9 inch male jag,5 inch male Cuban,5 inch firemouth,and my dad has his rose queen. its a 125 gal and everyones getting along fine and dandy. my brother is going to get a 3 inch datnoid for $40. I figured im not gonna bother ditching my Cuban because he's my fish so why just ditch him like that..poor lil guy. lol what do you guys think?? (ill have pics posted of every fish later today) also I have no idea what a purple rose queen really is. looks like a bright pink red devil. whats the scoop on that species??.
 
Rose queen can be as bad Midas,red devil and Midevil In terms of aggression and just like a Managuese will claim a entire 125 for itself .Watch it closely because it's a amph hybrid and amphs get nasty early

I agree with Crazymike. I have owned festae, red devils, midas, jack dempseys etc. The meanest think I've ever had was a purple rose queen who dominated my 110 gallon, reducing tankmates to the bottom corners of tanks. Extremely aggressive and relentless. Keep a close eye.

I don't think he/she is going to dominate any time soon tho my jag showed it whos boss already and basically let it know which pieces of territory to stay away from. I would assume that if its a female id be better off soo I got my fingers crossed in that regard. if its a male I may run into probs cuz obv im gonna take your words with it being its an amph hybrid. if my dad falls in love with it like I think hes gonna and it brawls too much ill just tell him flat out that he's gonna have to set up another tank. he told me if my jag starts beatin up on it the jags going....I looked at him like "what....hell no. the jag stays idgaf" (I payed for half the tank setup) my jag never ever ever hurt any of my other fish unless they asked for it in that case he just gave warning bites. ill keep an eye out but ill have pics for you guys later on so you get a better idea!
 
Male or female they are nasty and there will be conflict. A 125 simply ain't enough room for both. Jag has a advantage now but once that rose queen puts on some size there will be blood. Amph and parachromis do not mix well unless the tank is very large. Its a timebomb honestly

Best of luck hope all goes well! All of those fish getting along at adult size is definitely the exception not the rule. But it is possible. Part of learning to walk the tight rope of a cichlid community tank.

a tight rope is the perfect way to put it. sometimes you get harmony though especially if the fish are very familiar with eachother. im going to have to do a HELL of a job with territory building. I have faith though. im also very vigilant so nothing crazys goning to go down without me, my father or my bro knowing.
