So i recently purchased an silver arowana to grow in in a 90 until ready for the 180gallon as well as a rtc. I had the rtc for about a month and its prob 5 inch big. same size as arowana. 2 hours after introducing them the arowana had a chunk missing from its belly and it was dead and now 4 hours later its completely gone!!! is this common?

i dont keep RTCs but from what iv read, ..and from my own predators, mostly bottom dwelling yes ..if its its size or smaller it will be eaten...nice little snack for your RTC.

My 6 inch rtc ate 2 of my 8 inch bala sharks. Sucks you learned this the hard way. Also, careful about that rtc cause they will grow to 2 feet in a year.

yup my TSN try eating my little firemouth. not the same situation since the firemouth is a pain in the butt and swims near his big mouth, If you have anything in the tank small enough to fight in the mouth of an RTC it will eventually be a snack. and yeah Catfish will eat everything even wet cardboard.

ive had a rtc with arowana already and a huge pacu in the 180 then eventually gave him to one of my friends who has a indoor pond
now time to grow sum more

Why are you trying again may I ask? A bigger arrow doesn't help. That rtc will grow faster and out grow the arrow. Then it will eat it again..... Just keep that in mind. My rtc averaged a inch a month. So even if you got a 12inch arrow within a yr he would be food aswell. It more or less depends on the rtc itself. Not saying it can't be done. Just saying don't be mad if it happens.

Rtc's have a very big mouth even at that size. I mad the same mistake. Had a 5-6 in rtc with some pbass and a black aro that took me 6 months to get week later he was looking fat and all three of them were gone. And they were all the same size.
