I bought an eshopps PF1800 overflow box and a 7" Sock holder with dual input from F&S aquatics. sadly though, the overflow box has a 1 1/2 bulkhead, and the 7" sock holder has a 1" insert. my overflow is rated at 1600GPH. What will reducing the bulkhead to 1" do to my overflow? The return pump i'm using is a mag drive 1200. it will go up 4 to 5 feet, and the 3 foot GPH rating is 1100.

Would it be better for me to try and rig up my own holder for the sock? or would reducing it down work?

also, at lowes, the closest sized hose barb they had was 3/4"

Am I right in thinking you have something like this http://www.aquacave.com/complete-7-...ilter-sock-holder-brby-cpr-aquatics-1433.html. Going from 1-1/2" down to 1" is not so bad.

If you want the max flow availible then I would just remove the attachments from the filter sock holder and then drill the 1" holes to 1-1/2" holes and just sit flexible pipe through the holes and into the sock a little to reduce water noise.

Even reducing the 2 drain lines to 1" each to fit the sock holder you will still be ok as a mag drive 1200 has a flow of 1130 @ 4ft head and 2 x 1" pipes will run between 1350 and 2400 gph. That will leave you with a reasonable cushion, I would be happy to set up with that but I am far from an expert.
This is just my opinion from what I have picked up from doing my first sump and reading a lot here so I can't be held responsible if it goes pete tong.

You will want to look online for hose attachments if you can't find what you need in a store. Ebay has done me wonders in the past.

ah, thank you. What I did was get a PVC reducer to put them down to 1", then attach 1" hose barbs. The hoses go down to the piece you linked to. (thats exactly it btw)

At roughly 1-3/4" total diameter between the two pipes to play with your flow should be fine and the overflow should outpace your pump with ease.

Good luck.
