Ok so I consider myself not an expert, but pretty knowledgable. I do my water changes every week (50 percent) And have successfully kept tropheus which I've heard is hard! For as long as I've remembered I've been doing water changes with a gravel vac which I thought was standard. I'm 14 but My back is literally destroyed from it. It takes me 20 mins to do one on my 40 gallon, and I also have a 75 gallon and a 30. Thats a long time spent waterchanging. It wasn't until I stumbled on A yt video earlier today that I learned about the python. This is life-changing. There should be some standard thing that tells new aquarium owners about it. It feels like being the punchline of a bad joke - I can feel you guys laughing behind your screens. How could I have been so dumb? I should have known something was up when Duanes said he does daily 50 percent water changes on his tanks. I feel so stupid. At least now when I buy this magical device. I think - I should be able to do daily water changes.

Haha, I have a thread on this, I was doing WCs on ten tanks ranging from 5g to 120g with a siphon and bucket, 50% on all twice a week, the python changed my life

Ive taken this system up a notch. Get an extra long hose and an adapter to your shower head. On the other end of the hose attach a valve switch adapter.

Put a screen over your tub drain and use gravity to suck the water from your tank to your tub and then use your shower to fill your tank back up. Works especially well when you have large tanks

I use electric pumps for vacuuming and improved upon the python theory. Mind you I also plumbed dedicated sinks in my house for WC... you don’t get old by working hard all the time. I can change 2 55’s and a 29 at 75% in less than 45 minutes.
