Dear Bros...maybe alot of brudders and sistas in the States do not have the chance to witness what and how is the procedure of tagging the much loved Asian Arowana. As complicated as it sounds, it is actually not a very difficult task. But sure and steady hands are required nevertheless. I will bring you guys through the process with the pictures I took recently:
First, ofcourse, you have to bag the aros that are to be tagged:
Next, the stabilizer (Anestathic) would be dripped into the fish bag and in a few minutes, the arowanas would be in their semi consious state:
After which the semi consious would be placed in a temporary container awaiting tagging:
The tagging tool. As you can see, it is just a simple plastic tag applicator:
The aros are tagged individually one by one. They are first placed on a wet cloth on the tagging table:
With quick hands, one of the scale of the aro would be lifted up and the tag inserted into the flesh:
After tagging, the aro would be washed with clean water and quickly placed into well oxygenated tank. After a few minutes, the aro would be awakened. As you can see from the pic, the right aro is still in its semi-concious state:
After waking up, the Aros are good as new:
Can you see the amazing blue shine of this Aro? All the Aros featured here are Blue Based X-back Gold Aros:
Hope you guys enjoyed the crash course featured in in Asian Arowana tagging.
