I've heard and read many different suggestions... so at what temperature do they seem to do best?
Also, if they really do need cooler water, is it still a good idea to have a heater, to prevent too many temperature swings (I would think yes)?
i.e. I live in L.A., and the coldest it ever gets is about 50F, and even that's rare (usually I would say lowest would be around 60F), and then during the summer it can get to 100F (back in September we hit 113F
). Indoors, the hottest it's ever gotten was 90F, and the coldest about 65F. The biggest temperature differences seem to be day to night (last night I went to bed and felt it was too warm to use the covers, but I woke up at around 3 a.m. shivering like crazy and had to get extra covers). So is it better to have a heater set to 75F so that it never gets colder than that? That would limit the temperature swings from 75-77 rather than from something like 65-77.
I once read that tropical temperatures are detrimental to their health, but more recently I read here in MFK that they now live in many tropical waters throughout the world. So, who's correct?
