I know oddball has disscused this a little bit but didn't go into how often color variations show in the wild or captive bred. So whats the most UNcommon color variation. And just to make sure I got this right Tyrosinase-Positive Albinism platinum and Xanthic is gold.

Also on a side note if you bred two fish that had different color variants what would happen to the offspring ?

Or does the rarity of the color variant depending on the type of fish ?

fish dependant...other than that youll have to wait for someone else

I’ve bred ‘Gold’ Dempseys with ‘Blue’ Dempseys and the offspring appeared normal in coloration… it is assumable that at least some of the offspring held recessive genes for the color morphs, but I did not breed the offspring to further explore…

I’ve had Apistos not breed ‘pure’ offering me a small percentage of different colored fry… although this doesn’t surprise me at all…

I’ve had weird blends of Turquoise and Red W African Jewels as well but again, this doesn’t surprise me to find this in strains that have been long term aquarium bred…

I’ve learned most of what I know about breeding color morphs by experimenting/exploring with Dempseys and talking to Apisto breeders…
