So when Quarantined, what do you?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Have a small tank ( relative to what size fish you keep ) , run a sponge filter with a small heater and just keep the fish there , possibly treating the water with a bit of salt and just placing the newly aquired fish there to make sure it doesnt have a disease.

Putting the new fish on Q is also a good way to make sure the new fish is eating.

Q.What size tank do you have?
A. It would depend on the size of the fish
Q.What do you look for?
A.Any signs of disease or parasites
Q.If your treating the fish, how do you actually keep them healthy in a Quarant tank, w/out killing beneficial bacteria?
A.It will depend on what you are treating and what you are using for medication.
And as stated above it allows you a chance to monitor food intake as well as letting the fish eat without competition for food.-Anne
