Ive been soaking two decent size pieces of dw for over a month on a large rubbermaid bin outside.

Does the temerature play a role in how fast the tannins will be realeased ?

Same pieces from the same lfs and same distributer were done in a couple of weeks last summer.

Yes warmer water will release tannis faster than cold water. Think of a tea bag in a glass of cold water as compared to a glass of hot water.

Thanks man. Hope it warms up this week

This is gonna sound stupid but do you think if i lined the bottom of the bin with aluminium foils and left the top off would it maybe heat the water using the sun ?

Kind of like those old sun reflectors my mother used on the beach

I guess reflectors could make the water warmer. What kind of fish are in the tank the driftwood is going in? I was under the impression that while tannins may not be nice looking to some, it's beneficial to the fish and water.
