I feed my mbuna NLS jumbo pellets...i was just wondering if its better to soak or just throw them in? When i throw them in dry they chew on them and sort of make a mess. But obviously when they have been soaking for 5 minutes they pretty much grab a mouthful then slowly suck them down, getting the entire pellet(s).

Is soaking degrading the quality of the food once its actually given to them? What do you guys do??

Don't soak pellets. As they get wetter their nutrients seep out and hence you loose some of the benefits of pellets. (You can easily see this if you look at the water and it turns brownish the longer you soak pellets.)

That being said of course soaked pellets are a good way to get them say medications if needed. But when regularly feeding it isn't a good idea.

Alright, thats what i was wondering.

On another note i guess my uro (ca cichlid) will have to deal with the lacking nutrients because the fish will chew up and spit out the hard pellets, haha.

If you do soak them you can soak them in a vitamin formula like sera fishtamin but you only want to use it once a week or every two weeks.I do it as a immunity reinforcer and it helps them heal faster. But make sure you follow directions on what ever you get.
