Just a heads up for the local SoCal people!

Strictly Fish in Long Beach/Lakewood is having its annual summer sale!

1/3 off all fish and corals!
Acrylic aquariums at cost!
20% off everything else!

Sale starts tomorow 7/12 and goes through 7/15!

I make it a point to always attend these sales as great deals can always be found. Strictly Fish has an awesome cichlid selection and usually brings whatever rare fish the importers have available for this sale!

I saw a few freshwater puffers the last time I was there that I hope are still there tomorrow : ) I also hope to find a few nice pieces of driftwood to add to my tank!

here is the address:
6903 Carson St in Lakewood, CA.

Finally, I attended one of these sales on a Friday evening a while back and couldn't move around to get a good look at the fish for sale. It is probably best to go early to avoid the crowds!

Thanks bro! I'll be there for suuure! What kind of FW puffers? Any Carinotetraodon irrubesco (true red eye red tail puffer) per chance?

thx

Better go there during the office hours and not after the hours because it will be packed. I went there 2 hours ago and got myself a big driftwood as well as a 120 piece frozen fish food for $30 and that includes the taxes. Pretty good deal if you ask me. The driftwood was $25 and the frozen food was $10. I think both items had 20% discount on each. 20% is the least discount that they give on wet and dry goods and goes as much as 33% on fish. Nothing special on their fish stock although they do have FW puffers, what kind? I have no idea.

By the way XP2 for $79 and XP3 for $99.

Hope they have some nice driftwood left : (

I wasn't able to make it out today but will be heading there tomorrow after work! I'm off at noon so i should beat the crowds.

As for FW puffers they had a few the last time one was labeled a red eye but I don't know the exact scientific name!

Did you see any nice bichirs?

:WHOA: I hope they are true irrubesco... oh man I've been looking forever...

went there, bought some junk stuff for the tank. Was hoping to see a few aro but they didn't have a single one on display or sale. Wasn't so great but was a nice sale. Also saw a fresh puffer, pretty cool.

Unfortunatly we'll have to pass this time around due to some other obligations but We would certianly like to thank you for posting the information on the sale. We also have to save tank space and money for the auction in SAC. lol

They got some pretty good drift wood left. I got the best looking $25 dollar drift wood though. The better one are around $35 or something similar.

Just returned from the sale!

Picked up four 4" tiger botia for $20 and 1/3 off (about 3 dollars each)!

A nice chunk of driftwood, and a few bottles of chemzorb at 6.99ea.

The FW puffers that are left are not the puffer I saw a week or so back, they look cool but not what I was looking for : (

I will try to make it out again to see if they restock the cichlids as I'm looking for a nice pair for a 20 gallon!

one7h4n9,
If you are looking for a nice arowana they opened a new shop in Norwalk off of Pioneer and Rosecrans. It is owned by someone related to the owners of 405 Tropical in Westminster!

The shop is not complete, but half of there tanks up and running. At the moment they have a few extremely white and very healthy looking aro (both Jar and the more common ones for sale). They are probably in the 6-8" range for $29.99.

They also have larger sized aba aba knife (8" compared to the usual 4" I see available) and some extremely thick and healthy looking alligator gars. They have wide thick mouths. Finally the have smaller payara available labled as "barracuda."

As for the actual name or address of the shop, I don't have it : (
But it is a block north of Rosecrans in a "U shaped" shopping center. There is Mexican market on one side, a dentist and laundrymat on the other side, and finally on the side that matters, an aquarium shop in between a photo place and a Thai restaurant.
