Hey folks. Picked up a black ghost knife about two months ago. First BGK that I've had that will eat anything I put in there. Cyclopeze, blackworms, bloodworms, flake food and tetras. My question is this: I've seen people with very social BGK's and I've never been able to replicate that. I mean by this, eating from the hand and playing during the day. Any advice?

Thanks and swim on!

just keep trying to play with and feed it from your hand...it will eventualy do it...just don't stress it to much play small amounts more often...gl

Sounds like you've already got a fairly social fish. Or, at least a hungry one. I bet you could just put food in your hand and it'll swim up and nibble. Also, most fish will adjust to your feeding schedule, regardless of lighting.

Really, the only reason a knifefish would do anything "sociable" is because it's hungry.

get a 1 pc pvc pipe, cave or any tube for that matter, don't try putting any other decors that might get them to hide somewhere else. try feeding him/her food inside his cave by just putting the food almost inside. if he ignored it just repeat the procedure everytime you feed him.

Or you could try starving them for 3-5 days, but i wouln't prefer this method.

umm put the food close to him so he can visulize it. They are social, keep with semi - aggresive fish like clown loaches and convicts, etc

I found mine will take frozen bloodworms from my hand . As for social - he comes out when he wants - day or night , he decided that . Mine lives under a piece of driftwood partly exposed all the time , he went for that over a piece of tube and a hurricane lamp glass that I had in the tank .
