The wooden hood on my 180 is ****ed, it has white, green and black mould growing on a lot of the edges, and some of it has gone soft.

I'm annoyed because this type of hood ensures fish can't escape even if they get past the sliding glass.

Is there any way to salvage wood in this state? Or should i just chuck it?

Probably just have to chuck it, but if it isnt too deep you might be able to bleach it, get it dry/clean, and re-seal it.
It would probably be less effort to start over.

I use plain old polyurethane :grinyes:

Perhaps a photo might help us understand the degree of the damage.

It may or may not be 'fixable'

Bleach will kill the mold, but will need to soak in to the level of the mold, further softening the bond of the wood, let's get a look-see.

What type of wood? Natural? particle? Pressed?, Chip? MDF?

How extensive is the damage?
