OK I ened up with a baby soft sheel turtle. What should I feed it? What kind of set-up does it need?

All the times that I have ever seen these at the stores or in peoples houses they were swiming in a tank full of water. This little guy don't want to be near water. He just digs a hole on the sand and hides. He looks like every other soft shell that've seen ecpt he is a real dark black color.

Anyone? Well I found out it's a florida soft shell turtle. All the info I found on line says they need to be kept in water. But like I said this guy don't seem to want to be in any water. I tried it in a 10 gallon with a floating dock with a sand bottom and it kept swimming like it was drowning then as soon as I put it in a empty tank with just a sand bottom it calms right down.

Are you sure the turtle just wasn't swimming? What did it do to make you believe it was drowning?

It was going nuts :nilly:just like a drowning person and it kept going under and fighting to stay up.

Well at least put a shallow dish of water for the turtle to soak in the mean time while we figure things out.

I did that when I put him in the dry tank with the sand bottom. I put him in the dish and he just ran right out. The dish has 2 sm guppies in it. His shell legs and tail all look normal and he moves fine.
