Soft shell turtles are supreme carnivores. If you value your fish, keep them in separate tanks.

Yea, LRM pretty much gives you the only answer to that. It's rather ironic that the big fat bichirs get pawned by a soft shell turtle, on the surface at least. Well, science is science.

"It's rather ironic that the big fat bichirs get pawned by a soft shell turtle, on the surface at least. Well, science is science. " what do u mean ????

LRM is right, softshells do not mix well with fish and they can and will take down something twice their size if it is put with them. It might not happen immediately but it will happen.

my 5" softie took down a 10" Oscar. I have not tried any since then but I have seen the adults in the pond take down some massive bluegill and bass. I have not tried it with the fish you are talking about but I would not expect them to live either.

I'm trying to say that polypterus are born predators and when looking at the appearance of turtle and fish, it does not seem like the soft shell turtles can kill it. But what actually happens, is that the turtle can actually have it chomped up pretty nastily. Which is ironic to my first statement. LOL.

It's a very bad idea to put a non-active, bottom dwelling fish with softshells. I don't even own one and I wouldn't risk my poly's lives with my Musk and Mud Turtles who are no where near as aggressive as a Softshell can be.
