I have a softub to convert to make a 300gallon tropical pond with. Want to keep an aro in it. Basically the pumps on it kept braking and its been sat collecting dust so am just going to use the tub and block all the jets filters ect. Im in the uk and wondered if anyone the other side of the big pond has done similar? I want to do as much work/design myself, have it half sunk into the ground with glass house around it with tropical plants/trees inside unto japanese decking at the back of my house. This seem like the right forum/website for this kind of thing.:naughty:

Arowana are jumpers, provisions would need be made to keep the aro in the pond.

hmm...Aros def. eat birds out of trees in their natural habitat so i would say yes its a daily occurence. I kept a Jardini in a 300 rubbermaid with a 3ft. fence of 1/8'' pvc sheet. Very flexible stuff. So it can be done just be sure to choose a TALL fence for your pond or a tight net. They will jump! they will continue to jump and they will escape if you do not prepare for it. I'd op for the fence. Its amazing to see how far they get out of the water when you startle them lol... and i found that the nets actually damage the aros face/barbels when they repediatly slam them selves into it. GL and enjoy... i have 6 silvers :) 6-26" great fish!
