:D I will not get to see it, but some of you E coast guys will. I have never seen a solar eclipse. If anyone has the photo skills and rig, please, by all means, take us some pix:headbang2

Friday, August 1 is a red-letter day for eclipse enthusiasts. On that date, the sun will be partially eclipsed over an immense area that includes western and central Asia, parts of northern and central Europe, all of Greenland and even a small slice of northeastern North America.

Many people go a lifetime never witnessing a total solar eclipse. And in fact we happen to live in a rare moment in the 4.5-billion-year history of our planet when total solar eclipses are just barely possible due to some remarkable solar system alignments.

cool good lookin' out!

already had the date planned! now i need a better telephtoto...

Bump it up....

Just a quick tip...In 2017 we will get a very very good one. It will be most peoples only chance in life to see a solar eclipse...The pacific NW will have front row seats!!!!!1 People in Kansas will see 2 within 7 years, and then not again for 150+ years, I think.

The only reason solar eclipses are possible, is the eerily precise alignment of the sun, moon, and earth. In a couple hundred years, they will be off center. We are truly blessed to have this opportunity

right on spizz!

i will try and get some pics to share with mfk

it seems only the tip of canada's eastern side will see the eclipse in full view, the north eastern U.S will only see a partial eclipse (though maine may possibly get a full view.

Some people fly to Africa to see them, and so on...I think it would be worth the drive, to get somewhere, to see it.

i was in north maine this exact time last year for a couple weeks.

partial is good enough for me though. 500 mile drive one way for an eclipse at the gas prices these days is just silly. (i got 41 mpg highway on an 03 accord Lx. But that was last year and the prices have sharply rose.

oh well. eastern canada Photo MFK'ers are gonna have to do it.
