Let's hope they don't sell the patents to the oil companies.

Solar highways

Talk about an interesting idea! fascinating concept. Hmmmm--I wonder what the oil companies will think of this!!!

My taxes are already too high. It would cost Billions, if not TRILLIONS to implement.

Also, roads get DIRTY. How are they going to generate electricity while covered with dirt, mud, sand, oil, snow, and squished possums?

i know but our gas will be $4 a gallon by this summer.. some where somehow we have to start to implement some new technology.. even if it takes the next 50 years.

Its a good concept, but rather than rebuilt roads i think there are better options. Such as putting a "roof" of solar panels over parking lots, parking garages, buildings, etc.

horrible idea. solar panels are overrated

I think that this is a great idea.

As far as how they are going to keep it clean. All then men and women out there that are already working on the roadways will have a diffent job to do. As they implement more solor roads more road workers will make the transition to upkeeping those roads instead of spending trillons on new assfalt to patch the already bumpy as hell roads we have. And in the long run the roads will pay for them selfs and make a profit in the future. I think that it will have to be up to the states to decide if they will use this or not and how much to use or not. Like the guy said you have to think out side of the box, but you also have to be realistic.

One of the greatest ideas of the year. And it's only day one!

It seems like a great idea, however, glass? Isn't glass replaced by plastic? Even if such solar highway will be built, I don't see it will be built with glass panel, and if plastic come into play, well, we know pretty much what plastic comes from.... If I'm an oil company, I would endorse the idea, pay for the study and experiment :D

Am all in for it hey it may cost alot at first but it helps us in the future and helps our environment, I would love to support this guy spesh with marketing.
