Sold as a malawi, but looks like a FH!

Today i went to one of my LFS, and they had a tank with Mixed Malawi and mixed in with them were these two cichlids, which to me look like young flowerhorns, the pictures suck and make them look like firemouths which they aren't as they had firmouths the same size in another tank. And i thought for £2.50 each i'll take the risk, in the store tank they did look like young FH's

The only other fish that they look like in the tank is maybe a Barred Midas, but i've had barred midas before at this size and they don't look the same.

hard to tell but I have bred various malawi for 15 yrs and cant ID it. however it was in a mixed malawi tank and those often times have lots of hybrids in them, so who knows but I agree it doest look malawi or african at all for that matter but need better pics to know for sure.

looking at them again I am pretty certain they are not african. maybe FH but maybe just a CA or SA hybrid of some sort.

i see a little RD or midas in them and also your right could be FH because of pattern on them but definitly need better pics.. were these the only two?

I know that they definately aren't firmouths as in the flesh they look nothing like.
