Anyone else have a single specimen tank where the fish is a female and lays eggs with no male? If so, what do you do with the unfertilized eggs? Be kind of mean of me to just scrape them off (not to mention getting bit), and there isn't anything else in the tank to eat them.

The old lady is very protective and has moved all the gravel into 1/4th of the tank, about 8" high. This was her first "spawn".

Like how I phrased it as a question so hopefully this won't get moved?

i guess maybe they have to spawn sometimes.. as they would perhaps explode..(probably not literally but you get what i mean..)

just leave them. . . once they start to go "bad" she should eat them. even if she doesn't, they won't affect water quality to any noticeable extent, and leaving them will prevent her from laying again right away.

i'd get them out if she doesn't eat them but this happens all the time but you shouldn't leave them in there they will grow fungus and pollute the water or mabye get her sick but most likely they will just rot

get her a male :)

Agreed, She is trying to tell you something. She needs a
boyfriend!

As said she may eat them, but you should keep an eye on them or just remove them incase she doesn't and it affects your water. It happens all the time...

take them out, sell them as caviar! ;)

my female red devil does this all the time. she always ends up eating them afterwards so she knows how to clean up, yours might be different. can't get her a bf cuz she'll kill him! ;) actually i'm trying to grow my male out (seen in avatar) to her size and maybe introduce them in the future.

Im sorry but u have to get them out or else they'll start to grow a mold kind thing on them. Happend to my lfs. he has the scares to prove it
