is there anyway to get my polys to com out of hiding more? my tank is bare bottom and has plenty of hiding places but even wen theres food out in the open they wont go for it unless the lights r off. I hav 2 sens, 1 albino and one regular both r about 4 inches thx for any advice

I've had great success with using floating plants, even plastic ones! My polys love to hang in the plants or just below them and do what I call "lurk"! Also I use "moon" lights and my polys become very active almost as soon as I turn off the main lights. Either or both should help considerably!

thx, ill buy some floating plants and some sand, does sand color mattter to polys?

actually removing hiding places will 'force' (used loosely) the polyp's to begin to become less shy. they will have nowhere to go so they have to get used to seeing you. then you can put in a couple of hiding places that you can see the polyp's easily from your viewing area.

thats strange...sens are ussually very active.

I don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but I went from a bare bottom to a black sand tank and saw an immediate change in behavior in my bichirs. I'm hoping it gets even better when I get the driftwood and plants in.

my bichirs are very active.
all from 2.5 to 5 or 6 inches. (except my ornate.)
i have tons of hiding places but my sens like to stay upfront with my endlis.
i have a very very thin layer of gravel.
