I'm setting up a small (under 20G) setup to breed mollies, but it is also a display tank. The tank also has a male Desert Goby, and lots of aquatic plants.

Snails are ruining the plants.

I need a tank mate that:
-EATS SNAILS
-Wont harm existing fish or plants, or baby mollies
-Wont get too big

Any ideas? Clown Loaches seem to get too big, and I'm not sure about Pakistan or Zebra loaches regarding the baby mollies.

Thanks,
Paul

Hmm, I've read about putting pieces of cucumber in, but would snails actually move to the cucumber if they were already munching one of my plants?

The tank also has a layer of fairy moss on the top to protect fry, and that stuffs a bugger and makes maintenance difficult, I'd rather have a fish do it for me.

Are there any snail eating loaches that wont eat molly fry?

Paul

i don't think there are any fish that don't eat fry. use the cucumber or zucchini slice to bait them (or lettuce leaf), toss the food when it is covered in snails, repeat.

Fair enough, I guess I'll have to settle for that. I suppose cucumber would be beneficial for Mollies as well, to rasp at.

I could actually just put cucumber in, remove it when loaded with snails, and dump all of it in one of my turtle tanks. Thanks for the idea!
