Alright you all saw what a bonehead I can be by feedin my Gulper a beautiful Leichartdi. So help me make a good decision about tankmates this time. I wanna setup a tank for like 2 Arowana's an wanna know everyone's opinion about tankmates. I was thinkin about mixin a Leichartdi with maybe a Green or Silver. I planned on gettin the Green or Silver bigger than the Leichartdi to offset for it's aggression. Or do you think 2 Leichartdi's would be best. I plan on gettin another 8" Leichartdi from Rich(great guy) whose holdin a couple for me. I was going to get a 10"-12" Green/Silver to put in with him. Is that feasible or just stick with 2 Leichartdi's or will they tear each other threads. As I've said I've got no experience with Arowana's. So any help would be appreciated, Thanx in advance hopefully. I'll get as many responses as I did with my Gulper eats Aro thread.

when you say green, do you mean asian green? The illegal ones?

it's a crap shoot with any of them. greens can be as aggressive as aussies, but are illegal, so I wouldn't, but it's up to you if you want to break the law and risk your asian being killed by authorities and everything else that goes with getting caught.

don't break the law, and if you do, don't post it on a public forum

First of all what size tank are you planing to get ,that will make a huge difference two aros is a bad number if you do a mix 3+ and a 300g you want to spread the aggression. green aro= jail and fine i would look into black aros

I am a bonehead I meant Blacks. I was gonna try 300 gallons. If that's too many Arowana's then so be it. Rather have 1 happy fish than 2 miserable ones. Also I've heard Leichartdi's don't grow as big as some other Aro's. Is that true and if so what size do they grow to. Greens I wish. Actually Red was what got me thinkin about Aro's. Also as juveniles I don't find Aro's that impressive, but adults are amazing with those big beautiful scales and heavy armored apearance. The only reason I'm gettin a juvenile is cause I think you can take more personal pride in a fish you grew into a beautiful adult. Lets you know you did everything right.

In one of my tanks I have 3 silvers and 3 blacks. Doing great together. In another tank I have 2 blacks one leichardti and one jardini that will be going soon. All doing great. I say do a leichardti with blacks. Leichardti get maybe 30in.

I have a jardini, silver, and black all in one tank. I've been pretty lucky with aggression so far, but when there is any sort of aggression it is from the jardini 90% of the time.

I would do a leichardti and a black. I want to get a leichardti from Rich so bad, but I don't have anywhere to put one. It's too small to go in with my big guys, and too big to go in with my little guys...and you've helped me make my decision on putting him with my gulpers.

in my experience, anything with a silver shine to it does NOT mix with leichardtis.

silver aros and black aros and leichardti aros mixed with a leichardti does not work out.

3 silvers, 3 blacks, but mixing jars/lei's is a gamble every time.

i have bichirs/dat/mono sabae with my leichardti, he loves his tankmates :)
