So, before I was old enough to under stand that a Polypterus Senegalus would not fit in a ten gallon, I had two of these guys portly taken care of by me when I was younger, but now, 14 years old and loving the fish hobby, I finally am cycling a 55 gallon tank. I know they're going to be people who say get a bigger tank, and trust me, I would get a 300 gallon tank if I could, but I am on the 2 story, parents would most definitely not let me, plus I payed for the tank, and it would take up 1/5 of my room

A pair of senegalus would be fine in a 55g. Get the tank cycled of course first.

Thank you, any more advice is also welcome

Feed a quality brand sinking pellet, diced tilapia, small earthworm. Change filter cartridge before it impedes water flow but don't clean whole filter unless you remove the bio media from the filter. Rinse bio media with water removed from aquarium during weekly wc's.

Also always have dechlorinator for your tap water.
