Posting this for my mother, as she isn't the most tech savvy person in the world.

My mother recently bought a BTA at the LFS (probably about 5-6 days ago)

The first day he looked great, ate a piece of fish, climbed itself up to a top of a rock, and seemed to settle in.

Well that same night it moved itself from up on top of the rock to under neath that same rock and stayed there the whole next afternoon. I know an anemone needs light so I told her to move the top of the cave area so it could at least get the light it needed.

The following night it once again moves itself on to a rock, and then the next morning it has once again positioned itself under a cave...

Any thoughts on what is going on and if it is going to be okay?

As long as it still looks healthy it should be fine, they move around alot sometimes, its probably trying to find the best spot in the tank for it to thrive, If its still eating thats usually a good sign that its doing ok.. I wouldn't worry to much about the movement.. It will eventually find a good spot and attach itself.. Make sure she Checks her water params weekly as well..

Maybe he like being under the cave

Let it go where it wants and let it settle in. As long as it looks ok just give it some time. I just switched tanks and moved 4 RBTAs. One of them didn't budge, 2 moved a couple inches, and the smallest one moved a foot to a spot it liked. They all will adjust to the new tank and lights a little differently.

Do some research... #1 rule on nems though is that you cannot and will not be able to control their movement.

They will go where they want.

But can't the keeper adjust conditions to change where the anemone wants to be?

To much light they will retreat, to little light they will climb for it. And yes, they go anywhere they want. Post water parameters and set up for more help.

True, but only to a certain extent...especially with lighting.

They will pick a "perfect spot"...that you have very little control over.
