So, I kind of want to get a P.

I dont really have a big enough tank for a shoal (33''x12''x22") so I was thinking of growing out one.
First thing that came to mind was a Rhomb.
I've looked at Sanchezi as they are the smallest P species...

What Piranha would you reccomend for a beginner to piranhas and a tank thise size?
I'm optimally like to keep it in this tank for ATLEAST two years.

Thanks.
:)

sanchezi isnt the smallest piranha, if you got a baby rhom (about 2") u could keep it in that tank for about 2-2.5 years

or a maculatus would be fine for life really, they dont exceed 9" , i would keep a 9 incher in that tank with no probs with enough filtration. they are nice P's aswell with very visable teeth

<--- my avatar is a maculatus

Yeah, looked into Macs.
Got anymore pics of your Mac?

I think I might grow out a rhomb, then later on get a Mac.

What about Whimples? I know they arent true P's but they stay small and actually look like P's unlike exodons.

whimples are piranhas, just not very interesting/impressive ones imo

heres my old mac

Beautiful mac!

I just watched some videos on youtube and saw some way awesome macs.

Does Massive Agression get macs often?

for that tank size your best bet and for bigginer of piranha keeper are Irritan, Sanchezis or Marigutus IMO. they are very slow grow and pretty live in there for very very low time.

If you planning to upgrade in couple of years then pretty any small Serra. are good.

Out of the three you listed, I really like the Sanchezi.

I dont know if I will be able to upgrade, but I might be getting a 75G this summer.
Or larger.

But I'd like to keep the Sanchezi in the 35G and maybe get three RBP's for the 75..

not sure mate, probly
like sticky rice said tho, really as long as you buy small, you can have your pick of any serra species as they grow much slower than pygo

an irritan is also a good choice, and they are nasty little ****s

Yeah, I was looking for stuff in Irritans but couldnt find much.
Although of the two videos on saw of one, it was quite a nasty little dude!
Kept ramming the glass and chasing fingers.
Only 5'' and so aggressive!

what would the footprint be for the 75, coz you could probly squeeze more rbp's in, sometimes overstocking gets the best results with pygo's ive seen it first hand, it allows them to shoal closely like they do in the wild, and stops individual territories being established therefore minimizing losses due to fighting. all you need is sufficient filtration for a heavily stocked p tank (twice what u would for a normally stocked tank)
