some biggins from the ca. delta

I kinda suck at editing but some are oversize, others are just legal and I keep three a year and throw back the rest...for the record Ive caught 4 nice keepers this year and kept one only been twice!.Got a 63,59,55 and kept a 50".I dont count shakers(undersizers), but they are up to 44" and fight good too.lately the bites been in 7-4' of water and they really jump everywhere!those bigger 25lb. stripers were in a derby and we were 1/4" from victory...lame the wieghmaster squose the tail until it went over and busted it.Other weighmasters flop em down and thats it.Some squeeze mouth and flop tail...Funny thing is his buddy(owner gotcha bait) wins every year with no witnesses. so we dont fish in Antiochs csba derbies any more.maybe I'm wrong but its way too fishy for my dime.
 
Sturgeon just seems to "majestic" to me to keep... If its legal then no harm I suppose. Do you eat them? Those stripers are nice. Have never caught one.
 
ya I eat em, no comparison to columbia river sturg...not as good here so I smoke it and its awsome.I try to be respectfull and take the smaller 50" range...Enough meat and still younger and hopefully less toxic, who knows?

Smaller fish taste better, just like smaller cows taste better!
 
we tried to fish the south bay last year for the sturgeon bowl,learned alot caught one.went way up into shallows in alviso slough.some guys go way further but thers a low brigde we couldnt pass under and the word is, go there!too far though for me. Actually just got in and we got a fat 64!thats 5 keepers this year...post it later
