Hey everyone, my tank is 75g, 48"x18"x20", the stock right now is 2 senegal bichirs. I'll be adding a third sen and the EBJD and severum from my growout. I want some dithers to make my fish more comfortable and to add activity. Any ideas on what I should add for dithers? Obviously it can't be anything to small, as the sens would eat them. I don't really like the look of giant danios. I like silver dollars but I think 4 6" fish would be a bit much for my tank.

Suggestions? Thanks :D

giant danios would be perfect imo but maybe rainbow fish? i wouldnt go with silver dollars... maybe tigerbarbs i think they would be fast enough.....

silver dollars only get a few inches bigger then Giant Danios, you really think they wouldn't work?

I second the giant danios. Their feeding response also helps getting fincky fish from live to prepared foods. I use them in my cichla grow out tanks, they eventually get eaten.

If you don't like the danios go with rainbows...tiger barbs can get nippy, not worth the risk IMO.

tiger barbs were never really considered, IMO they're just not that cool.

I don't think I'll get rainbows because they're $15 each here

How about a nice group of yoyo loaches (botia almorhae) 6 inch max, polka dot/angelicus loaches (botia kubotai) 5 inch max or zebra loaches (botia striata) 4 inch max. They should all be pretty active given the right environment and a good size pack, not to mention they have pretty killer markings.

I couldn't personally vouch the the above loaches but my pack of clown loaches get along with my two senegalus (5-9 inches), (6 in) weeksii, and (4 in) ein my 60g growout. My 10 clowns are 2.5-5.5 inches. As far as I know the loaches above are less boistrous than clowns I will know in a few weeks when I pick up a group of one of those species above.

My clowns 'crash, dart, and hover' around the tank with the sens all the time. Feeding time is a little hectic for the weeksii and delhezi but the sens barge in there with the clowns no prob.

I frequently see botia kubotai which might even be juvi botia almorhae at my local petsmarts and lfs. I've only seen one striata at a petco. So availability doesn't seem so thin.
