I rarely post pictures-you can see why by my rubbish photo skills (a combination of poor technique and pants camera). I got my 2 Thinbars last July at 2". The biggest is now hitting just under 10" and the smaller one just over 8" (nearly lost this one when I first got and it didn't eat for a while as a result). The big one recently developed a massive lump, like a huge zit on the side of its head, which I successfully aspirated with a sterile needle and syringe. Its now perfect and not a mark on it. Haven't a clue what it was-I did think Dat disease at one stage

The big Indo in the pics is 8"-damn thing still won't accept pellets :nilly:. The Thinbars love Massivore, Hikari Cichlid Gold and dried krill. I limit their feeds to 3-4 times a week now as I find they'll eat for England and the tank gets messy otherwise. I'm sure they'd grow quicker otherwise. The plan was to upgrade the tank next year-its only a 100G-but we're moving abroad and so I'll have to let them go at some stage. Its sad as I wouldv'e liked to have seen how big they'd get.

Hi, very nice fish. That growth rate seems exceptional. Hope mine grow that fast when i get some. How does growth compare to your indo? Get in touch when you need to get rid of them!

The Indo is very slow but I been starving it on and off for months now to try and get it on pellets but its not happening. I gave in today and gave him a heavy feed of lancefish and I'll do this a couple of times a week from now on. I think at times we as fishkeepers are stubborn not the fish and we should just lets things be. My own view is that for best growth you have to get them on pellets, especially massivore I've found

Thanks for the comments

great pics of some great dats! is there no way you can take them abroad?
what technique did you use to get them on pellets? mine will only accept king prawns lol!

very nice fish mate, totally agree about the pellet being best for growth rate, took me an age to get mine on just pellet but helps with water quality aswell
