Some feed-back on Australian noxious/grey list

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I like the OFIMG!!!!!!!!!! (ornamental fish management implemention group.)

That sucks to hear about the bans of fish. Hopefully they realize how stupid they are when they ban half the popular aquarium fish and continue to sell fish from the same subspecies..

thanks mate.
unfortunately though it looks to me like one of those ' thanks for writing to us but it isn't gonna make a difference' letters :(

thanks for the update

exactly, why does my dream country have to pull this just before I'm almost stable enough to move there!? :nilly:

Something related to this from a local forum.

While bass fishing at clarrie hall spillway this week i spotted what looked to be green terrors (a south american cichlid) swimming in the creek. At a closer glance i seen at least 5 or 6 there. It is obvious some knob has emptied there aquariam there creating an ecological nightmare. Tweed fisheries have been notified about this and a specimen has been caught and is going to be given to Tweed fisheries for identification. There are more i believe in there and more that have already escaped downstream. Hopefully DPI Tweed fisheries division does something about these fish in our local waters before they become a problem.

I'm obviously not for the ban, but I completely understand it. Unfortunately, and rightfully so I might add, the government cannot put any trust in the general public because there's a portion of us that are just plain stupid.

Regardless, cheers for the update and hopefully things will work itself out without having too harsh of an impact on the sensible and responsible hobbyists who genuinely care about both their fish and the environment.

i agree japes. although i'm really annoyed about the whole thing i do agree with what they are trying to do as, like you said, there are stupdi people in this hobby who are dumb enoughto get rid of their unwanted fish in their local rivers/ lakes

the same thing happened over here recently when large braziliensis fish were found in parts of the swan river.

very sad that it has come to this. hopefully those who respect the law and fish keep properly will not be affected too harshly...
