So i have been reading couple of these VT, CT threads and decided to make some phone calls to VN local fish stores. I called 5 big fish stores in HCM city and Hanoi to find out about these VT Dat and came up with a very sad result. The only datnoid they have is NTT and several IT. In addition, my friend just came back from VN a month ago and he has not seen any ST or those VT. He was there for 3 wks and even offered $500 for one and there is absolutely no such thing as VT Dat. Up to this point, I am gearing to believe that there is none to very small chance VN has any ST or pulcher at this time. IMO, this leads me to believe that these VT, CT are a product of hand selected It fish. I might not be correct but if any one else can find the origin of these VT, CT, please share your finding. Thank you in advance.

I have been following these threads as well. IMO the most logical way these fish flooded the market is from a breeding program. I have no proof of this at all!!!!!! But......A totally stable Indo dat with three bars must be pretty rare in nature. What; one in a hundred? One in a thousand? i do not easily believe someone is catching enough numbers to make such a collection. Is someone able to collect tens of thousands of these fish?????
Cloning is not the answer either. They could be cloned if someone spent the money I have no doubt but the fish would be identicle. They would certainly clone a perfect ST if one were to try.
That leaves one possibilty. Someone crossed very stable widebar IT and we are seeing the results. Maybe a one timer. Maybe a program. Time will tell.

its just like the black rays, how many do you see in the retail shops in brazil/south armerica? very few if any. the export markets like the japanese are paying thousands for each fish, With that said, the majority will be exported for higher profit margins.
i know of 2 source in vietnams that supposedly has them. just be prepared to pay a big $$$ for them.

Cross breeding between 2 stable IT is a good point. That is what im thinking also. I have a 3 even bars indo as well u can see from my avatar. It is the one in the bottom. The previous owner of that one bought him as ST but turned out to be just IT. It is 6 yrs old. I really did offered $500 for one true ST there but they could not find any in 2 wks. Mqybe i can find some more this summer oversea. Meanwhile, there was a flood of Baby IT from last yr n they should be 5" now. I had 50 of them n seen atleast 4x3 bars and stable fishes in that batch. Waititng for more input.
if you willing to import a baby VT or CT for $500, why not you look for big VT or CT for $1500 or $2000. You really save the time and the cost of raising it bigger eg. food, accident, maintence, etc...... 
True baby VT or CT also not very sure is true breed. For you me, i prefer to buy giant VT or CT instead of VT or CT as the price not much different. this is just my oppinion

I can stright enjoy the true beauty of VT or CT while the small size did not
look so impress from my opinion eventhough only one gaint VT or CT availble.
Well....I could mix other fishes to make the environment not so boring.
