I borrowed my friends Canon DSLR (Rebel XSi) yesterday, and ended up taking about 200 pictures in the first 10 minutes.... dang!

Took a lot of really neat photo's, but I liked these the best...

Yah, I'm gonna be sad when my friend takes this camera back... I won't want to use mine ever again!

nice, you can really tell the difference in patterning and body mass between florida and spotted! can't wait to get my hands on the spotted sp. shortnose too. if you wanna sell some let me know!:D

I'm trying to move some of the shortnose I have now. I don't think I could ship them to where you are though ;).

great pics conner, gotta love how the DSLR compares to point-and-shoots...trade-off tends to be portability for quality, but the DSLR pics speak for themselves.

spotted really stands out compared to the Floridas in those pics (xander, there really isn't a comparable difference in body mass as you are looking at different ages -even if only in months-, and pattern is highly variable, although in this case the speckled belly of the spotted ID's it...also somewhat longer snout and caudal peduncle).

again, great pics--

I know, I need to get my dslr. Maybe I'll just "keep" my friends :grinno:.

If you look at the second pic, you can really start to pinpoint the tiny differences between the spotted and Florida. Like you said, the snout and caudal peduncle are the main differences, but I feel like I see some small differences in the gill flap/operculum as well.

I can't wait until the spotted catches up in size to the florida's and then we can really get some good side-by-side comparison pictures.
