Well, I decided I wanted a Green Terror for my 55.... I plan to eventually upgrade and put him into a 75...

I currently have 2 small GTs in the 55, reason is I got the first one without looking and paying much attention to his colors/structure (my mistake).... when I got home I was simply not satified and worried about how it would look when grown... I did not see any signs of a good specimen...

I then found a really nice looking small one, that I had to get... pics found here: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...by-Green-Terror-pictures.....-and-a-tank-shot...

my question is, should I go ahead and take the other one out and back to store, or should I let them both grow some together? They seem to be getting along fine right now, but they are both small (2 inches or so)... I want to make sure the one I am keeping has nothing to hold it back from reaching full size/colors.... so take the other one out... or wait until it becomes a problem?

Also, I am feeding them NLS cichlid pellets and omega flakes... what else should I mix in vary the diet?

Thanks for the help...

They will be fine in a 55 for quite some time. Not the fastest growers in the cichlid world.

Eventually a single male (or a breeding pair) will need a 75 gal tank.

If you already know you don't want the other fish, you might as well return it and get your money back. The bigger it gets, the harder it will be to find it a new home. Plus why waste space, bio-load and food on a fish you're not gonna keep...

NLS is all he needs to be healthy. Treat with earthworms, bloodworms, maybe ghost shrimp, crayfish and krill.

This was pretty much going to be my exact response.

good advice... that is the decision I was leaning toward... I am going to do a water change this weekend and see if I can catch the little joker!

probably wont get money back, but no big deal maybe work out a trade for some food or something..

I'd keep them and see if you end up with a pair. The "ugly" one might just be female. But who knows. And since you are going to be getting a 75, you could keep a pair in there. Just some food for thought. And since you are growing them both out from being small, there's a good chance you'll get a pair out of the two if ones a male and the others a female.

But if you do wan't just a single GT, and you are sure of that, get rid of it. No sense keeping a fish you don't want.

And I wouldnt expect to get any money back for a juvie GT. My LFS sells them for $4. There's just not much money in them. I doubt they'd even trade you food for it.
