Some growth on my snakehead

I moved to a new house last week and got my giant snakehead a new, bigger tank too. Now, there is some kind of growth or skin disease.

I kept it in a pail while shifting and preparing the new tank. It took quite a while. Probably 6 hours or more.

I then released it once everything was ready and I thought it would be safe for me to do so. On the very next day I saw this growth. I was cool about it. Few days later, it looked as though it was disappearing. I was happy. But it was back.

I noticed that the growth is only around the head and eyes. I don't know what caused this but I really need to know a solution.

I really love this monster and I hope you guys here can help me out here.

I have a few pics of my fish but I dont know how to put it up here. Using an Android.
 
Update: It looks like it is something that can move. When looked at them carefully, they were moving. I am not sure if they were actually moving because they were alive, maybe some kind of parasite.

Need help here guys.

Picture not very clear but, yes, I see sort of small disc-shaped things. As the pics are not clear, the best guess is fish lice (argulus). Anyway, since it is thriving on the outside of the body, it is an external parasite, which typically will suck the host (your snakehead). The best way, IMO, which I did on a few occasions, is either remove by taking your fish out, then either using forceps to remove those disc-shaped parasites. Other people have also tried to remove by adding medicine to the aquarium. You can do a Google search about argulus and see how others have removed it using medicine. I personally have always preferred to using forceps if there are only a couple of these parasites.

One likely, possible source of such parasites are those feeder fishes.

When you say that you removed the fish from the tank, did you put it in a smaller pail or something? Or did u leave it on the ground to remove the argulus using forceps. Was it easy handling the fish?

I treated it with Argulol, from Tetra. Worked fine.

If you remove with forceps be sure to remove them all as well as the small pincers that attach to to the fish.

Sorry for the late update. My fish is free from lice, at least from what I see now.

Just another couple of questions, now that it seems free from fish lice, do u think I should change the water to ensure that it will not be infected again? If yes, how much water to change?

You should read the instructions on the stuff you used and follow them attentively.

Some receommedn a second dosage after a period.
 
I read the instructions but it did not state anything about water change after treatment.

I did a 30% water change before treatment. I did that twice since I used the medication twice.

Now, I am quite certain there is no more lice on my fish. I am just not sure if I should do another water change.
