[Yakuza-Irezumi]

I know these guys are common,but it's gotten bigger and changed colors a few times,so here goes! This pike was under three inches when bought in November of '06.It has now grown to over seven inches(slow growers,big eaters)and had NO red on it's body.Now it's fins are drenched in red.Peanut,please tell me that the redish in it's belly is indicitive of female.

Unless it developes a white stripe along dorsal it is a male. As of right now, no stripe no female.

Yeah I'd say its going along the lines of a female. My male never got that dark stripe in the dorsal fin......so its possible it will turn white later on.... Still got about three more inches before its definate though....so don't give up hope just yet!

Don't these fish grow very slow?Mines had nothing but Hikari carnivore and Massivore and frozen whole Krill it's whole life and finnaly has a spurt 10 months later.

I got mine in April at 3" and it is currently 7", so I would not say slow but it hasn't grown nearly as fast as my Johanna has. I got them at the same size and she (johanna) is pushing 8.5-9". They both get the same food every day.

The more frequent your water changes, the faster the growth rates. Larger tanks help out oodles as well.... Mine grew from 4" to 13" beasts in eight months....crazy!!

I change enough water to qualify as a human drip system!! I think it's because hes crowded.It's in a 90 so.
