Im just new to this stingray hobbie.

I keep a 220 gallons aquarium, 170cm x 70cm x 70cm or 67"x28"x28", and the question is, can i keep a pair of Potamotrygon motoro "marbled variety" in that tank?

The tank is empty rigth now, but im just reading and getting info about rays before having one.

For Filtration i think 1 Fluval FX5 , plus some powerheads i think some Koralias (the 1s used for marine aquariums), and some air pumps.

Tankmates, just 8 Pterophyllum altums or 5 discus. Dunno what to choose.

How does it looks?

Possible?

Thank You

For life I would say no. But they would be good in that tank for a long time. I am sure someone who has kept marbles before would have a better time frame for you but i would guess 3-5 years if you get pups

I would wait for an expert opinion though :)

Ty for the replay.

Well with that time frame around 3-5 years, i think i have time to save some money to upgrade the fish tank in the future., may be 500g. But if they can stay ok in my 220g, im happy = D

And about substrate, i was thinking using sand, but the sand used in swimming pool filters, here in Panama is called "Arena Silica" or "Silica Sand". Do you know if its good for rays? any idea? A friend told me, that , Silica Sand harms rays gills, but searching information in others forums, specially that type of send they recommend to use. So now im confused :S

And about tank mates, discus - altums? Can they live together?

Thank You
Carlos Garcia
