A friend of mine has this little guy; he used to be yellowish in color and recently changed to black with orange stripes. I'm not sure what he is and neither is my friend who owns him. Any cichlid guru's have any ideas? I'm guessing it's something fairly common as he got it locally and our LFS doesn't usually have an amazing or diverse selection.

Well I know for sure...it's an African cichlid..most likely from Lake Malawi

Not a mayan, its an african cichlid.

Looks like a bumble bee showing dark colors. Maybe a female cause if i remember correctly males turn rearly black. Its been years since i kept africans but i uswd to have a male bb.
