Ok so my fry tank has started developing hair algae. Rather than use chemicals and such, i was gonna get some type of algae eater like a pleco or something. Can anyone reccomend a species for me or do i go with a bog standard pleco? The new fish must be able to live in the same or similar water peramiters as sevs and angels. Any advice would be most helpfull:)

dnt get plecos..they are just useless for eating algae..i bought one thinking the same thing..it turned out to be carnivorous..eats flesh and dosent bother about algae at all..you could get chinese algae eater or sail fin mollies.

Hair algae is tricky. Geting something to take care of it might take a lot of trial and error or might not work at all. First start by cutting back the lights or remove them all together. Start doing more water changes to reduce nitrates and phosphates. Its easier to eliminate the things that cause algae rather than add something to remove it.
