I picked my son up last Saturday night from a kitchen job he has at a restaurant. He finishes at about 10.30pm so when I go to get him it is dark.
On the way there on quite a remote moorland road I passed what looked like a freshly run over fox in the road. It wasn't moving, I presumed it was dead.
On the way back I noticed up in the distance that a car was parked in the middle of the road with its hazard lights flashing, around the same place where i'd saw the fox!
As I slowed down to pass I noticed a guy knelt down in the road, lit up by his own headlights. He was cradling a cat in his jacket and his wife or girlfriend was stood at the side of him on her mobile phone, presumably ringing someone for advice or something.
I felt awful for not stopping as I was the first to see it, but was thankful that the guy stopped, otherwise somebody not as caring as him could have well run over it and finished it off!
I just hope the cat survived.
