i have a 55g tank with seven AF`s and one of them are going crazy. i get home from school and there are hills and holes in sand. then i noticed that is was digging it won not stop. i was wondering what it could be because the other fish are not dong that.

ok, and if she is getting ready to breed will she lay the eggs in the hole she made?

Males make the nests, they encourage the females to lay their eggs, then they fertilize then the females pick up the eggs and hold them for about a month when they release the free swimming fry.

As for the behavior cichlids in general move things to there liking, so nothing is abnormal.

do you any pairs? or more then one of the same species?

They will lay eggs on a log, tanks glass, rocks,flowerpots, decor... whatever they like.

And once they start digging, they could breed today or in a month or longer. all up to the fishes mood, temperature, water condiitons, tankmates...etc
