Here are some big wolf fish caught on a fishing trip to Brazil a while back. They hit topwater lures well, which is what I did most of the time because bait kept getting eaten by piranhas.

I would never try to keep these in a tank with anything else that I wasn't willing to risk losing; they are the toughest thing in the Amazon.

If you are interested in how to fish for them, you can check out my website www.howtocatchanyfish.com

Nice big aimara.
Still pretty young, probably less than 15 years old, takes probably about 25 to 50 years to reach large size, this is why many fishing lodges should have a 100 percent release policy, other wise the fish tend to be gone in a few years.

Still big for the way hoplias are fished/overfished for food I believe.

You happen to have any length and weight measurements of those specimens?

All of these and the 30 or so others I caught were released. They are an extremely tough fish.

This spot still had a ton of them. I lost more than I landed given that they have hard mouths and jump a lot and twist when hooked.
