is a 40 gallon a good size tank for a flowerhorn?

depends.... what size fish ur getting.. strain....
the reason my zzml and indo zz are in 40 bc when i put them in bigger tanks with a female they will take to breeding better

i have seen bonsai more then happy in 40.. but most flowerhorns will out grow 40's. they can live in it... but not as happy as can be

even though most breeders will put full growns in 20-30gs, ethier that or section each tank a million times

for any of my fh over 6 inches in my house they get their own 55 or higher.
they have strong midas in them and trimac so figure they can reach 14inch and will deff hit 10inch.

but for the first 1 year a 40 will be safe

the happier a flowerhorn is the more vibrant the colors and the bigger the kok <hump> is. so the the more u treat ur fish like gold... the more he will start turning into gold.

i know. my camera skillz suck. i only have a fuji film digi. i spend to much money on fish and tanks and not enough on camera hahaha
