I rescued a midas with the same malformation. He did fine until about 7" then he started going south. Went from super active to laying in his cave all day, stopped eating and began gasping for breath. After check water parameters and treating with multiple meds, I determined it had to be the deformity. He had also started to curve when looking from the front. Best of luck, just wanted to share my experience
